Plaza mayor caceres

Cáceres

Taking on an invitation of a very good friend of mine I visited a very beautiful city in Spain. Cáceres is a city located in the region of Extremadura in Spain, it was founded by the Romans in 5 BC.

The first stop was a marvelous viewpoint Mirador del Santuario where the statue of the patroness of the city, Virgen de la Montaña, is located. After which we drove to Casar de Cáceres, which is the town I was actually staying at just a few kms away from the city.

La Plaza Mayor is the main square of the city with many bars and restaurants and it’s also the main entrance to Casco Antiguo, the walled city…

Cáceres was declared world heritage by UNESCO 1986 and this is due to the blend of it’s history and architecture of Roman, Moorish, Gothic and Italian renaissance influence.
