A weekend geataway in Cáceres, Spain

Cáceres is a city located in the region of Extremadura in Spain, it was founded by the Romans in 5 BC.

Mirador del Santuario

The first stop is at the marvelous viewpoint Mirador del Santuario where the statue of the patroness of the city, Virgen de la Montaña, is located. After which we drove to Casar de Cáceres, which is the town I was actually staying at just a few kms away from the city.

Plaza Mayor

La Plaza Mayor is the main square of the city with many bars and restaurants. It’s also the main entrance to Casco Antiguo, the walled city…

City town hall…

A pit stop to eat huevos rotos con gulas before touring Casco Antiguo…

UNESCO Heritage

Cáceres was declared world heritage by UNESCO 1986 and this is due to the blend of it’s history and architecture of Roman, Moorish, Gothic and Italian renaissance influence.

Church…

Inside the walls it feels like time doesn’t even goes by…

Calle amargura…

And yes, drinks and party with my friends 🙂
